betfacts

Editorial policy

In force from 2026-10-03.

1. Sources, in order of trust

  1. The regulator: its published licence list, register, PDF or gazette notice. The only acceptable source for "who is licensed".
  2. The law: the act, regulation or finance act itself, for legality, age limits and tax rates.
  3. Professional secondary sources: law firms and the large accounting firms, used to confirm a reading of the law. A tax rate is published only when the law or two such sources agree.
  4. Press: used for dates and events (a ban, a relaunch, a suspension), never for licence status or tax rates. News reports about gambling tax are often wrong; we say so where it matters.

2. What we never do

3. Dates and updates

Every table shows the date it was last checked against the source. Regulator lists are re-read weekly by software; if a list shrinks by more than a fifth, nothing is published until a person has looked (a broken parser looks like mass licence withdrawals). Each change is logged on the changes page.

4. Corrections

Report an error to [email protected] with the page address and, if you have it, the regulator source. We check within a few working days, correct the page, and record the correction with its date. Regulators and licensees who find their entry inaccurate get the same treatment, with priority.

5. Money

At present betfacts earns nothing. If referral links are added later they will be marked Partner, will only point to operators on the regulator's list for that country, and will never change a fact, a position in a list or a verdict. Details: how we make money.

6. Audience and limits

This site is for adults (18+, or the local minimum age where higher). It describes regulation and tax; it is not legal or financial advice and it does not advise anyone to gamble. See responsible gambling.
